 MECHANISM OF ACTION
Mebeverine is a smooth muscle relaxant with a selective action, on smooth muscle of the gastro-intestinal tract
Mebeverine is used to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, which can include, abdominal pain and cramps, bowel spasm, diarrhea and flatulence.
- 135 mg, 3 times daily, preferably about 20 minutes before eating.
- 200 mg retard capsules: One capsule, twice a day, at the morning and evening. The capsules must to swallowed with water without chewing it.
Hypersensitivity to Mebeverine
 WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
Mebeverine should be avoided in patients with paralytic ileus.
 PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Even considering that experiments in rats and rabbitts show absence or fetal malformations, Mebeverine is not recommended for use in pregnancy and lactation.
 SIDE EFFECTS
Although adverse effects appear rare, gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, headache, insomnia, anorexia, and decreased heart rate have been reported in patients receiving mebeverine.
Cases of hypersensitivity, including erythematous rash, urticaria, and angioedema, have also been reported.
